The Security Manager at Michigan's Adventure is responsible for overseeing all security operations across the park, ensuring the protection of guests, employees, and property. The role combines leadership, operations, risk management, and coordination with law enforcement to maintain a safe, enjoyable environment.

 

Core Responsibilities:

Security Operations & Safety

  • Plan and direct overall security operations, including alarm systems and CCTV programs
  • Protect guests, employees, and park assets through proactive security measures
  • Develop and implement emergency procedures and safety protocols

 

Leadership & Team Management

  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise security staff (including seasonal employees)
  • Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions
  • Maintain staffing levels and ensure efficient coverage across the park

 

Incident Response & Investigations

  • Handle and investigate criminal incidents (misdemeanors and felonies) on park property
  • Coordinate loss prevention efforts with other departments
  • Act as a key decision-maker during emergencies

 

Law Enforcement & Compliance

  • Build and maintain relationships with local law enforcement agencies
  • Ensure compliance with state laws, corporate policies, and safety regulations
  • Enforce company rules (e.g., Enchanted Parks/Michigan's Adventure policies)

 

Budget & Administrative Duties

  • Develop and manage the security department budget
  • Monitor spending, labor allocation, and purchasing
  • Oversee scheduling, payroll, and reporting functions

 

Communication & Coordination

  • Respond to radio calls, emails, and incidents professionally
  • Work cross-functionally with park departments (rides, admissions, etc.)
  • Help integrate security into overall guest experience operations

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, or related field and/or extensive experience in high-volume Security Management.
  • Proven manager leadership experience.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume, and seasonal environment with a flexible and demanding schedule.
